Program Overview

The Master of Science in ICT aims to provide areas of excellence in the field of ICT that are suitable for the Information and Communications industry. The M. Sc. ICT aims to instil a high-level knowledge in the areas of expertise with additional focus on fostering research and development of new ideas in these areas. The M.Sc. ICT seeks to give an understanding of the theory and the current research status of various areas in the particular course being followed. Through a selection of advanced elective topics, you will be able to select the areas of greatest interest leading to the M. Sc. Dissertation. As a successful graduate, you will be able to move into a doctoral research degree. Program Curriculum

Year 1 In addition to the compulsory study-units, students are required to choose study-units to the value of 50 ECTS credits from the elective study-units on offer during Years One and Two. Semester 1 MNE5011 VLSI Technology 5 ECTS Elective Units (Elective units are offered subject to availability, a minimum number of student registrations and time-table constraints) CCE5502 Fundamentals of AI and ML 5 ECTS MNE5015 Design for Electromagnetic Compatibility 5 ECTS MNE5112 VLSI DSP Units 5 ECTS Semester 2 Compulsory Units (All students must register for this/these unit/s) ICT5902 Research Methods 5 ECTS Elective Units (Elective units are offered subject to availability, a minimum number of student registrations and time-table constraints) MNE5013 Signal Conditioning and Data Converters 5 ECTS MNE5114 VLSI Design for Embedded Systems 5 ECTS Students who at the discretion of the board are found to be lacking in essential knowledge can be asked to follow, as part of the Elective study-units in lieu of those listed above, not more than four Level 3 study-units of which not more than 2 study-units can be outside the Faculty of ICT. The University shall make every effort to ensure that the published Course Plans, Programmes of Study and study-units catalogues are complete and up-to-date, but reserves the right to make changes on the recommendation of the relevant Board. The availability of the elective study-units may be subject to timetabling constraints. Study-units not attracting a sufficient number of registrations may be withdrawn without notice. Admission Requirements

Applicants must be in possession of: Refer to the list of country-specific qualifications the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Information and Communication Technology or the degree of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (Honours) or the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Engineering or Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computing Science or/li> the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in two areas of study, one of which is an area related to ICT or the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in a suitable area of study or the degree of Bachelor of Science in two areas of study, one of which is an area related to ICT or a degree with a strong ICT component comparable to the degrees listed in (a) to (f). Applicants registering under paragraphs (f) and (g) shall be required to complete a preparatory programme. Eligible applicants may register as visiting students for individual study-units and obtain credit for them. Subject to approval by the Board, credits awarded for any such study-units may be transferred to the Course, provided that not more than seven years have elapsed from the successful completion of the studyunit. When credit for more than one study-unit is being transferred to the Course, then the seven years shall commence from the date of the last credit awarded.
