The University of Worcester is a public research university based in Worcester, England. With a history dating back to 1946, the university began awarding degrees in 1997 and was granted full university status in 2005. Its motto is Ad Inspirandum Aspiramus — "Aspire to Inspire."
In 1946, an Emergency Teacher Training College for the University of Birmingham was established in Worcester on the site of a former RAF base. In 1997 the Privy Council affirmed the institution's degree-awarding powers, and in 2005 the Privy Council granted full university status. In 2010, research degree-awarding powers were conferred, enabling it to award MPhil and PhD degrees.
Campuses & Facilities
The university has four campuses: St John's (the main campus, housing halls of residence with over 872 rooms, a sports centre, and facilities for nursing and midwifery); City Campus (home of the Worcester Business School, built on the site of the former Worcester Royal Infirmary); Riverside (including the 2,000-seat Worcester Arena); and Lakeside (a 50-acre countryside site with a watersports lake, pitches, woodlands, and an activity centre). The university is also home to The Hive — Europe's first integrated university and public library — and the University of Worcester Arena, Britain's first inclusive indoor sports hall purpose-designed to include the wheelchair athlete
Sustainability & Inclusion
